Arts & Crafts Bloodstone Stickpin
Heliotrope! |
|
A striking heliotrope, or bloodstone, set in a distinctive Arts & Crafts stickpin. The stickpin reflects the influence of Medieval design on Victorian and later jewelry makers. Crafted in 14kt gold, circa 1910
The early Arts & Crafts movement in Britain drew significant inspiration from the craftsmanship and designs of the Middle Ages. The cruciform-shape of the stickpin and bloodstone reflect the Victorian interest in the symbols and spirituality of the earlier period. The stickpin was beautifully crafted by The Brassler Company, a maker of fine stickpins. Note the sturdy pin stem which is securely attached to the gold back. Measurements: This 14kt gold stickpin is 2 5/8" long and weighs 2.7 grams. The cruciform top measures 5/8"by 5/8". | ![]() |

![]() The maker's mark of The Brassler Company, an oval cartouche enclosing "14" followed by "B", is stamped on the lower reverse. In the above photo, the maker's mark is partially obscured by the pin stem.
