Among the finest Art Deco cufflinks are those that combine bold, dramatic design with striking colored gemstones. These 14kt gold cufflinks with intoxicating green Tourmalines are a wonderful example. Crafted by Larter & Sons, circa 1930.
 The backs of the cufflinks are as beautifully crafted as the fronts. You can see the maker's attention to detail in the sturdy brackets and strong cross bars that secure these cufflinks on the cuff. A dramatic bridge, rising above the back of the Tourmaline, helps protect the gemstone and orient the cufflinks.
 The purity of the gold ("14K") and maker's mark for Larter & Sons are stamped on the cross bars. The maker's mark is a style of spring-loaded shirt stud invented by Larter & Sons in the late 1800s.
 Larter & Sons was founded in 1865 and made distinctive cufflinks, dress sets and gentlemen's jewelry during the late Victorian era and into the 20th century. The firm was known for elegant design, technical innovation and fine craftsmanship.
