Egyptian Revival Stickpin
Egyptian Revival! |
|
A stylized palmette soars above a luminous pearl and exotic geometric designs in this dramatic Egyptian Revival stickpin. Created by Whiteside & Blank in 14kt gold, circa 1910.
The arts and designs of ancient Egypt have long inspired fine jewelry makers. Interest in the arts of ancient Egypt saw a revival in the late Victorian period, as well as during the Art Deco 1920s after the discovery of King Tut's tomb. The bold, striking design of this stickpin could be from either period, although I think it favors the early 1900s. Cost: $375 |

![]() The reverse of this stickpin is beautifully and solidly crafted. This jewel was created by Whiteside & Blank, a maker of fine stickpins and other jewels during the late 1800s and the early decades of the last century. The maker's mark for Whiteside & Blank (an arrow piercing a crescent moon) and the gold purity mark ("14") are stamped on the reverse of the stickpin just behind the pin stem.
Here are a few more elegant stickpins from the past ...
